Objective & controls
Press Space, Up Arrow or W to jump, and press again in the air to double-jump. Use Shift, E, Down Arrow or S to switch between Cyan and Magenta. With a pointer, use the left half to jump and the right half to shift. On mobile, use the two labeled controls. Land on neutral platforms or platforms matching your current phase, and match laser gates before crossing them.
How scoring works
Energy cores award points and extend the same streak used by safely cleared laser gates. A longer streak raises the multiplier from 1× to 2×, 4× and finally 8×. Falling, landing on a non-solid phased platform or crossing a laser in the wrong phase ends the run.
Strategy
Read the next platform colour before leaving the current one. Save the second jump for correcting height or reaching a platform after a late phase change. Shift before contact rather than at the last pixel, and collect cores only when they do not compromise the landing.
How difficulty grows
Running speed rises continuously with distance. Platform heights, gaps and phases vary, while laser gates add a second phase decision on longer platforms. Faster scrolling gradually shortens the time available to combine jumping, double-jumping and phase changes.
Improving at Phase Runner
The useful way to improve is to understand what the game is measuring. In Phase Runner, the important pressure comes from Running speed rises continuously with distance. Platform heights, gaps and phases vary, while laser gates add a second phase decision on longer platforms. Faster scrolling gradually shortens the time available to combine jumping, double-jumping and phase changes.. That means repeat runs are not only attempts at a better number: they are opportunities to recognize the decisions that create that number. Use the strategy above as a starting point, then compare your own runs and identify where time, accuracy, moves or survival are being lost.
Small Games keeps the rules visible because a leaderboard is only useful when players understand what is being compared. Read how scoring and verified results work, browse the complete Game Guides, or learn how Small Games is designed.
